Editor’s Note: “Mike’s Journey” is a three part series on the challenges experienced by Marshalltown’s Mike McNamara and his family. In early April 2009 McNamara, then a Marshalltown High School senior, fell into a coma as the result of a brain injury contracted after an illness. After an extensive hospital stay at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, McNamara transferred to Ankeny’s On With Life for rehabilitation. This three-part series continues tomorrow.
