Dezerae Songer Going Home 1 Year Later

DES MOINES, Iowa — A central Iowa woman is still recovering after a motorcycle crash left her unable to speak, walk and even eat nearly one year ago.

Dezerae Songer, 25, went out for a spur-of-the-moment ride last September. Her mother said it was a decision that nearly killed her.

Songer was involved in a crash that put her in a coma for seven months.

“She was in a coma, unresponsive,” said her mother, Kelly Peacock.

She said her daughter made a gradual comeback over the last seven months and now slowly remembers things.
